Nearly a year ago we introduced you to Brandit, the German brand for military fashion aficionados. There were two separate articles written and now it’s time to write a third for one of their most interesting jackets.
For this week’s single review, we will be looking at Britannia, a men’s jacket for those who prefer to dress casually, but like a little edge in their look.
* Note: The availability of the clothes (including colors and sizes) might change at any time. Also please check the clothes’ materials and features on the various shops before buying. We do our best to assure the accuracy of our articles, but sometimes they might contain errors. The product images shown are for illustration purposes only.
Where To Buy The Brandit Britannia Jacket
Here is a list of the various online shops from different countries where you can purchase the jacket:
When To Wear It
Starting with the look and style of Britannia, this is a great casual jacket for day-to-day wear. It is loose-fitting, with plenty of front pockets and various stitching all around, which give it a very relaxed and carefree look.
The outer shell is weather-resistant, but seeing as this is a Cotton jacket (more on that below), it is best suited for dry weather and mild temperatures. This way you can wear it throughout Autumn and early Spring.
If you like spacious jackets with plenty of pockets, then the four outer pockets will surely come in handy. They are flap pockets with buttons for closure and there is also a Velcro internal pocket.
The collar is medium-height, with a back zipper to access the hidden hood, which is mildly water-resistant and can be adjusted using drawstrings.
The main zipper is covered by a snap-button placket that helps protect against wind and rain. It also adds to the look of the jacket, especially the bottom and collar closure with round buttons. Also adjustable with buttons are the sleeve cuffs and the waist comes with drawstrings for adjustment and a better fit.
Staying true to military-like jackets, Britannia also comes with shoulder straps. The bottom hem can be snapped open when sitting down, so you will be more comfortable, without having to undo the front zipper.
And the final touch are the real leather patches and small details.

Britannia is a complex jacket when it comes to the fabric material it is made of. The outer shell is made of 100% Cotton pre-washed canvas, another similarity to army jackets.
Also made of 100% Cotton, the inner lining is thin and helps keep the jacket breathable and comfortable. This inner lining is only for the body, because the sleeves are lined with 100% Polyester as is the hood.
This combination helps to give the jacket weather-resistance, while at the same time keeping it lightweight and breathable, so it can be worn throughout the year.
When it comes to color options, you will be pleased to know that you can pick your favorite out of the six options available. These are classic jacket colors and, of course, there are also Camo options for those among you who prefer the look.
These colors are:
- Light Woodland
- Dark Camo
User Reviews, Feedback & Opinions
On to the reviews by online customers who gave Britannia a try and let us know what they thought of it.
In our previews reviews on Brandit, we’ve mentioned their product quality, not just for the fabric but also the workmanship. They have a flawless finish and Britannia is no different. “Well made” is the word for this jacket.
Looks-wise, according to the reviewers, it is very stylish and the color is much better in person. However, the lighter color options have a black collar lining on the outside, which to some degree looks out of place and they would prefer it matched the jacket’s color.
Having the distressed canvas look, this is quite a preferred jacket among teenage boys, so consider that if you have a son or younger brother.
When it comes to weather-resistance, due to its fabric and light weight it fares well in mild temperatures, as mentioned previously, but try to avoid wearing it when it is raining.
The only downside is the size. Check the sizing table carefully and opt for one size bigger than you’d normally wear as it tends to run smaller. The main issue are the sleeves, so keep that in mind, especially if you plan to wear a sweater underneath.
The key features to keep in mind when it comes to Brandit Britannia are the versatility, comfort and surely the style. It is a well-made jacket for everyday wear and a great option for fans of the army-style clothing.
