It is only getting warmer day by day, so now we are at the perfect sport weather; not too cold, but not painfully hot either, which means a lot more time spent outdoors. And what is a good brand for outdoor clothing? We’d say, Geographical Norway!
Despite there being numerous brands and hundreds of designs, specifics and features in jackets, Geographical Norway still remains one of the top choices for many people. And let us say, deservingly so!
It is once again time for a single jacket review and today’s choice is Rivoli, a soft shell that will speak to all of you active guys out there.
We are making an exception this time and unlike with our other single reviews, where we take versatile jackets and take a detailed look at the features, in this review, we have selected a soft shell that is designed specifically for sports.
This, not solely because of the features, but also when it comes to style and looks. You will instantly feel healthier and a lot more energetic just by wearing this jacket. You’ll see why in just a little bit. As always, apart from our input, there will be the feedback from those who have tested it through and through.
Time to get started, don’t you think?
* Note: The availability of the clothes (including colors and sizes) might change at any time. Also please check the clothes’ materials and features on the various shops before buying. We do our best to assure the accuracy of our articles, but sometimes they might contain errors.
Where To Buy The Geographical Norway Rivoli Softshell Jacket
Here is a list of the various online shops from different countries where you can purchase the jacket:
When To Wear It
Rivoli, as stated previously, is a soft shell designed for movement. It will allow you to be as flexible and active as you want, without getting in the way or causing any discomfort.
Weather-wise, it is especially suited for Spring and overall low to mild temperatures. Because of the high breathability, overheating will not be a problem during activity, but it is not really appropriate for hot Summer days. And because of the insulation and material, it makes for a great layering jacket, as well as a transition one.
Starting from the top, this jacket comes with a detachable hood, which is adjustable with drawstrings and can be fastened to the front with Velcro, to offer more protection and fit better. It is also lined, for extra warmth. The collar is high and stand-up, with chin guard to protect the chin and neck from the main zipper.
The sleeves are designed to be flexible and adapt well to movement. The cuffs are elastic and they come with reflectors, as an extra safety measure. There are reflectors on the shoulders and back, too.
It has three zipper pockets on the outside, two on the sides and one slanted on the chest. The main zipper is water-resistant and uncovered, with a back placket to ensure that rain and wind will not get through.
As for the fit, it is a slim fit and with a cut waist. It comes with the brand’s logo on the chest and other small logos on the body and sleeves.
Rivoli is part of the Dry Tech 5000 series and comes with the Turbo Dry technology for the outer membrane, which is water-resistant and windproof. The water column is about 3.000mm, so it is a considerable resistance against dampness and wet conditions.
The material is a combination of 96% Polyester and 4% Elastane, which makes the jacket elastic and easy to move around in.
The inner lining is fleece which is insulating, warms-up quickly and in combination with the breathability of the fabric, it manages to maintain a constant and comfortable temperature.
Being a sports jacket, it comes in some interesting color choices, which you can match and combine with the rest of your sports gear, as you see fit.
These colors include: Black, Blue, Red, Kiwi and Dark grey.
User Reviews, Feedback & Opinions
The one and only issue you might have with this jacket, is the sizing. So choose accordingly and if you were to ask us, go for one size bigger, to avoid any issues.
With that being said, the positive online reviews are numerous and they focus on two main things: quality and performance. The quality, as with many Geographical Norway products, is noticeable right from the start. Every time the jacket is worn, the quality shines through not just for the fabric, but also the design.
This quality, also affects performance, which for Rivoli is indisputable. It does not overheat, nor does it feel uncomfortable or as if it’s restraining and preventing you form moving freely.
It is quite weather-resistant and fares nicely against low temperatures, due to the fleece insulation and the Turbo Dry membrane.
We chose Rivoli because it performs effortlessly and it is one of the better soft shell options out there. Look no further for this year’s outdoor adventures!
