Well, we are in mid October and already the temperatures have lowered enough to take out the light coats and wear long sleeves. It only gets colder from here and that brings us to this article.
We will be reviewing and comparing eight parkas for men, by some of the best and most well know brands when it comes to winter clothing: The North Face vs. Geographical Norway vs. Canada Goose vs. Jack Wolfskin vs. Blend.
Parka jackets are warm, cozy and really comfortable. While there are different styles, cuts and designs, they typically come with fur trim on the hood. This is due to the fact that parkas are intended for harsh weather, where snow and cold drafts are the norm, therefore the fur trim offers protection to the face. It does look stylish, too, so that’s another plus.
The North Face McMurdo Men Parka
The first brand of the selection is The North Face, with two of their winter parkas. First up, the McMurdo parka, a previously reviewed jacket by us. It is a down jacket, in a versatile design that goes well with different outfits.
The material is Nylon, with a filling 550 goose down filling, making this jacket weatherproof as well as highly insulated and warm. It comes with DryVent technology, which allows for high breathability and fast drying time, preventing overheating and dampness while wearing the jacket.
This jacket can withstand temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius, all the time keeping you warm and cozy. You can wear this jacket as your go-to parka during winter, but it is very suitable for hiking and camping. It has enough room to move in and it fits comfortably, making movement easy.
It comes with many pockets, placed on the sides, the chest, on the arm and two are also placed on the inside, all of them oversized, with one of them with a cable loop for earphones. There is also a water bottle pocket on the inside of the jacket.
The hood is removable, as is the faux fur trim and the collar for this jacket is high, lined with a soft material on the inside. The same material is in the hand warmer pockets, too, so the hands will quickly warm up when necessary.
As for colors available, they are: TNF Black, Black ink Green, Monterey Blue, Graphite, Black and Graphite Grey Heather.
